Friend,
As the results of yesterday’s election continue to come in, I can say with confidence that I’m proud of our Commonwealth. While I hope to celebrate continued Democratic control of Congress, I want to take a minute to celebrate wins on the local level right here in Virginia. Local government is where the rubber meets the road and folks in Fairfax City, Roanoke, Newport News, and Chesterfield County (to name a few) voted for leadership that will usher in a brighter future for hundreds of thousands of Virginians.
I’d like to offer my enthusiastic congratulations to these folks whose victories are a testament to the commitment of Virginia Democratic Voters:
- Fairfax City Mayor - Catherine Read
- Roanoke City Council - Vivian Sanchez-Jones, Joe Cobb, Peter Volosin, Luke Priddy
- Newport News Mayor - Phillip Jones
- Chesterfield County Supervisor - Mark Miller
We often use the phrase, ‘elections have consequences,’ when talking about bad outcomes. Today we should celebrate that those consequences can also be a good thing!
Thank you!
Levar Stoney
Mayor of Richmond
