Dear Friends,

It was an honor for the National Constitution Center to award the 2022 Liberty Medal to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. On Monday, we were thrilled to hear remarks from President Zelenskyy, who had received the medal days earlier in Kyiv from Senator Chris Coons and Senator Rob Portman. Senator Coons discussed traveling to Ukraine to meet with President Zelenskyy and present the medal. We also heard inspiring remarks from the journalist Jane Ferguson, the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Philadelphia Iryna Mazur, and the columnist George F. Will.

In his video acceptance speech, President Zelenskyy said, "This award really demonstrates how and what Ukrainian people are fighting for. Liberty is the main word for us and what really unites all Ukrainians."

By providing a heroic example of what courage looks like when it is deployed in the defense of liberty, President Zelenskyy has inspired the world to support the Ukrainian people in their noble crusade. You can watch the ceremony here, read about it on the Constitution Daily blog, or read the full ceremony remarks here.

With appreciation,

Jeff
