Dear Friend,

Today I woke up to learn the tragic reality that in the wake of yesterday’s voting, California was one of three states, along with Vermont and Michigan, where voters approved measures to establish the right to abortion in their constitutions. My first thoughts were of the words Sr. Lucia of Fatima told Cardinal Carlo Caffarra that a "decisive battle between the kingdom of Christ and Satan will be over marriage and the family."

As I reflect on the fact that I live in a state that enshrined the killing of the unborn in the womb in its constitution, I tremble. But at the same time, I am inspired to pray more intently because I know we are on the side of Christ and the ultimate victory will be His. 

So, I would like to ask you to offer special prayers of reparation for what has taken place in our country and continue to ask God to end the scourge of abortion.
