Dear Friend,

I want to thank you and the people of Maryland for your strong vote of confidence in my re-election to the United States Senate. I am grateful to you and everyone who supported our campaign during this journey and I pledge to continue working every day to uphold your trust.

I am also proud to be part of a historic Maryland statewide team that includes Wes Moore and Aruna Miller as our next Governor and Lt. Governor. I am looking forward to working closely with them to advance the values, priorities, and interests of our fellow Marylanders every day.

The results across the country are still unclear but — regardless of the ultimate makeup of the Congress — I will continue to do everything in my power to move our country forward as we tackle the many challenges we face at home and abroad.

The history of Maryland is woven into the story of America. The great abolitionist Frederick Douglass, born into slavery in Maryland, observed that “if there is no struggle there is no progress.” And the history of America is the story of the struggle to ensure that our country lives up to its promise of equal rights, equal justice, and equal opportunity for all.

Let us rededicate ourselves to the urgent work of building a more perfect union. I am grateful to have you as a partner in progress.
