It is okay to feel sad today. Organizing for progressive change in Texas is not easy, never has been—and we know this is a particularly difficult day for our supporters and partners who voted for change and worked tirelessly to mobilize our communities to fight at the ballot box this election.
Let us be clear: Texas isn't a red state. But it is a voter suppression state–and we saw very plainly last night how destructive bills like SB1, which introduced a litany of barriers to voting, can disempower and discourage voters. Regardless of the challenges we faced at the ballot box, progressive Texans voted for a chance at change, and their votes should not be ignored.
As we head into a new legislative session in 2023, we need you to bring the same energy you had for change this election to the Texas Capitol! Join us in letting the state's leadership know that we will not be silent while our freedoms are threatened—like our right to vote, our right to abortion, and the right to provide our children with medical care, including gender-affirming care, and so much more.
We will continue fighting for our freedoms today, tomorrow, and for as long as it takes.
