9 Things to Know About National Climate Plans (NDCs)

WRI’s State of NDCs report finds that countries are currently falling short on nationally determined contributions (NDCs), the climate plans that form the backbone of the Paris Agreement. The new climate plans put the world on track to curb emissions just 7% by 2030, while a 43% emissions drop is needed to keep the 1.5 degrees C target within reach. As countries strengthen their NDCs, an entirely different scale of ambition is needed. Read more

Vulnerable countries have tirelessly appealed for financial support from wealthy countries to address the severe climate losses and damages they are experiencing. These unavoidable impacts will only continue to worsen, which means finance for loss and damage is more critical than ever before.
