Last night DSA elected more socialists to office than ever before, gaining 40 seats across the country, bringing us to over 300 elected socialists nationwide. At the same time, corporate Democrats' inaction on abortion rights and the economy has allowed Republicans to hold onto Georgia's state legislature and Governor’s seat. While the results are still rolling in, a GOP majority in the US House is anticipated, but control of the US Senate is still up for grabs – with Warnock and Walker headed for a likely December 6th runoff.
The results of yesterday’s midterm elections will have a real impact on what our democratic socialist movement can accomplish in the next two years. But we know class struggle is waged beyond just the ballot box.
This fight isn't over. That’s why Atlanta DSA members are coming together to:
Fight back against the far-right agenda that Republicans will bring to Georgia's legislature this January
Organize to defend reproductive rights and decriminalize abortion in DeKalb County and across the state
Rebuild the labor movement with rank & file workers at Starbucks, UPS, Amazon and more
Becoming a DSA member means making a commitment to organize to transform society and undo the whole capitalist system. And as working-class people, we’re most powerful when we come together and take collective action. That means we need you with us! Join DSA today and build working-class power for the long haul. When you pay monthly dues to DSA, you’re supporting workplace organizing, the fight for abortion rights, and electing socialists across the country willing to fight for a Green New Deal and Medicare for all.
Together, we can win an economy and society that works for everyone. But we must keep organizing – before, during, and after election day. We hope you join us for our discussion tonight. Onward!
In Solidarity,
Atlanta DSA
