We did it, team.

Ballots have been counted, and I'm proud to announce that I am officially your Congressman-Elect in Illinois’ 17th Congressional District!

Earlier this morning, my opponent Esther King called to concede the race. She ran a hard-fought campaign, and while we didn't agree on the issues, this was about serving our community. I want to commend and thank her for running.

I'd like to extend a huge thank you to the thousands of grassroots supporters across Central and Northwest Illinois who are a part of our team. To the volunteers, donors, staff members, and our incredible friends in organized labor: YOU are the reason this we won this race. And to my family -- who have supported me the entire way – I couldn't have done this without your love and support.

From day one, this was about electing a representative who was known and trusted. It was about protecting our democracy and securing reproductive rights. It was about making sure that our IL-17 communities remain sustainable for future generations.

This place is special and it’s going to be represented by someone who’s spent nearly their entire life living, working, and engaging in our community. Someone who you know will be a good neighbor!

We have a lot of work ahead of us, and if last night's election results were any indication, it's clear that our community (and country) still believes in our democracy and is ready start grappling with the real issues we face.

Rest assured that I will work on your behalf every single day as your
Congressman, and I'm humbled to have you at my side.

Thank you,

Eric Sorensen
Congressman-elect, Illinois' 17th District
