THANK YOU, CALIFORNIA!

I am humbled and honored by the trust you’ve placed in me to continue to serve California in the U.S. Senate. It has, and will continue to be, the honor of a lifetime.

This victory belongs to every single California who believes in the American Dream, and who believes in fighting to keep that dream alive.

Now, there are still a lot of races around the country that are too close to call and we don’t know what the final outcomes will be.

But no matter what, one thing is clear: we’ve got a hell of a fight on our hands.

I want you to know, as your Senator, I’m ready to lead that fight.

I know California is ready to lead that fight.

And I know YOU are ready to lead that fight — because it’s in our DNA.

We’re going to lead this fight to ensure that every family has a fair shot and every worker can count on a good-paying job – a good-paying UNION job!

The fight to make sure our parents and our grandparents can count on the Social Security and Medicare benefits that they worked so hard for their entire lives.

To lower costs for families and ensure that corporations pay their fair share.

To take on Big Oil and save our planet from the catastrophic effects of climate change.

To ensure that we lift up our immigrant communities instead of using them as political pawns.

The fight to protect a woman’s fundamental right to make decisions about her own body, and her own future.

And we’re going to lead the fight to defend democracy — a point of pride for me as your former Secretary of State.

California showed the nation what’s possible when you stand on the side of democracy.

When other states rolled back voting rights, we strengthened them.

When they made it harder to vote, we made it easier.

We enfranchised millions.

And we made our elections the most secure and inclusive in the nation and achieved the largest voter turnout that this state has ever seen.

THAT’s how California leads.

Now imagine the kind of future we could build if we increased access to the ballot for every American...

There’s no question that the values we fight so hard for — equality, justice, and opportunity for all — would triumph.

And they MUST triumph – this is a fight that we cannot lose.

So today, as other states across the nation may elect candidates who campaign on lies, who campaign on voter suppression, and who attack our free and fair elections — California is electing leaders who STAND UP for truth;

Who stand up for voting rights;

Who stand up for democracy.

I promise that as long as I have the privilege of representing you in the Senate, I will not waver in protecting and defending our democracy.

I will fight every single day, to safeguard the democratic principles and institutions that our country was built on.

We don’t say it enough.

America is great.

Our democracy is sacred.

The American Dream is sacred.

Together, we’re going to defend it.

Together, we’re going to build a better future for the 40 million people who call California home.

From our valleys to our coasts to our deserts, to our mountains, we’re going to show the nation — and the world — how California leads.
