Divided nation, increasingly dependent population, disrespect for order and established law, apathy, rampant addiction to substances and devices, incredible self-centricity among the folks.Franklin understood freedom is eroded by all those things.The USA had a chance to self-correct on Election Day but declined. Florida and some other states did reject the madness, but places like Arizona and Virginia dug deeper into it.
