Dominating Victories for Republicans in Florida

Washington Examiner: Republicans are having a historic night in Florida, with Gov. Ron DeSantis and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) both beating their Democratic opponents by double digits, including in left-leaning Miami-Dade County, with a majority of precincts reporting. Should DeSantis hold his 11-point lead in Miami-Dade County, it will represent a massive jump in support from his 2018 gubernatorial run, when he lost the county by more than 20 points to Democrat Andrew Gillum. A win in the left-leaning county in his 2022 race would signal that Republicans are on track to dominate statewide in Florida, where Democrats were competitive for decades (Washington Examiner). National Review: For the first time in a long time, Republicans didn’t just win in Florida; they won big in Florida (National Review). Ryan Fournier: The Democrat party totally collapsed in Florida. FULLY RED STATE (Twitter)!

Brian Kemp, defeated Democrat Stacey Abrams in Georgia’s gubernatorial election (Insider). Hill: Sarah Huckabee Sanders, a White House press secretary in the Trump administration, is projected to be Arkansas’s next governor, winning the solidly red seat over Democrat Chris Jones and becoming the state’s first female governor. J.D. Vance Wins Ohio Senate Race
ABC: Republican J.D. Vance will win the race for Senate in Ohio. Vance, a venture capitalist known for authoring the memoir “Hillbilly Elegy,” was up against Democratic Rep. Tim Ryan for retiring Republican Sen. Rob Portman’s seat. Vance had the backing of former President Donald Trump, who won Ohio by 8 percentage points in 2020. Trump’s endorsement was key in Vance getting through a crowded GOP field in the primary (ABC). Axios: The Vance campaign’s emphasis on economic issues and public safety appealed to Ohioans, and he won despite supporting hardline anti-abortion views that conflict with a majority of voters who want abortion rights protected (Axios).

John Fetterman Edges Out Dr. Oz in Pennsylvania Senate Race
Daily Wire: Democrat John Fetterman has won the hotly contested Pennsylvania Senate race against Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz, according to a projection. The outcome concludes one of the most closely watched contests in this year’s midterm election cycle. The race was marked by controversy over Fetterman’s health issues following his stroke in May. Two weeks before residents of the Keystone State took to the polls, Fetterman had provided choppy responses during the only debate as Oz pressed the current lieutenant governor and former mayor of Braddock on his left-leaning platform (Daily Wire).

Media Pundits Dramatize Threat to Democracy Should Republicans Win Election
Ed Morrissey: Don’t take the outcomes of early exit polls too seriously, but perhaps one key finding out of the interviews with Election Day voters is identifying the dog that didn’t bark. And that was the “threat to democracy” dog, which Democrats hyped as their top message of the midterms. According to the exit polls, it didn’t even get a tail wag, a result that surprised CNN’s panel (Hot Air). Townhall: “You know what’s missing from this one, two, three, four, five, top five issues? Democracy.” “It’s not even in here” (Twitter). Carol Platt Liebau: Call it the “Chicken Little” election. According to the media, the sky was going to fall if the nation voted Republican in anything, God forbid, that could be considered a wave (Townhall Review).

Serious Obstacles Frustrate Voters in Arizona and Pennsylvania
This is unacceptable. Katie Pavlich: Twenty percent of voting machines in the county are down according to Maricopa County election officials. Poll workers at a key voting location in Arizona’s Maricopa County announced Tuesday morning that voting machines at a polling station in Anthem are not working. A significant number of ballots are being misread, but election officials claim individuals are still able to cast their ballots properly (Townhall). Citizen Free Press: Maricopa Meltdown “The machines aren’t working?” “No, NOTHING IS WORKING” (Twitter). Post Millennial: Arizona Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer apologized for the voter tabulation problems in his county (Post Millennial). Stephen Richer: STATEMENT (Twitter). Pennsylvania has had their share of issues. Dasha Burns: Big Election Day mess in Luzerne County, PA. Dozens of polling places ran out of printer paper for ballots. Voters had to be turned away. New Data Reveals Inflation Causing Biggest Pay Cut for Americans in 25 Years
Fox News: Americans who received higher paychecks in 2022 than the year before are still seeing their dollars buy less due to rising inflation, making the increase seem more like a pay cut. More than half (53%) of workers saw wage growth this year that was less than the rate of inflation, according the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. As a result, these workers saw a median decline in inflation-adjusted wage growth of 8.6% in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the same time last year. The Consumer Price Index (CPI), a measure of inflation, increased by 8.2% year-over-year in September (Fox News). RNC Research: CBS EXIT POLL: 46 percent of families say their finances are “worse” than two years ago (Twitter).

Vermont Becomes First State to Officially Enshrine Abortion
National Review: Vermonters on Tuesday voted overwhelmingly in favor of a ballot proposal that will enshrine a right to abortion in the state constitution. While 53 percent of votes counted, 76 percent of Vermonters had voted in favor of the proposal while 24 percent voted against it. In accordance with the vote, an additional article will be added to Vermont’s constitution guaranteeing the right to abortion, contraception, and sterilization (National Review). Hill: While Vermont is the first to explicitly enshrine abortion rights through an amendment, in 10 states, high courts have ruled that the state constitution protects abortion rights independently from the U.S. Constitution (Hill).

His warning comes after Xi last month called for faster military development, ‘self-reliance and strength’ in technology and defense of China’s interests abroad, raising the likelihood of further conflict (Daily Mail). Gordon Chang: Xi Jinping, who sort of has his finger on the button, is sounding crazy. His comments today about war and instability tell us either something is wrong in #CCP circles or he’s losing it (Twitter).
