HUGE news out of Michigan: The Fairness Project-backed ballot measure has WON, upending the 1931 abortion ban on the books and protecting reproductive freedom in the state for good.
Joining our Vermont campaign, which declared victory earlier tonight, our Michigan campaign is also making history. Now, the reproductive rights of millions of people in Michigan and Vermont will be explicitly protected in each state’s constitutions — meaning no attacks from the anti-choice minority will stand in the way of a person’s right to choose.
Michigan and Vermont are the first states in the nation to protect reproductive rights in their constitutions. Passing these reproductive health ballot measures paves the way for other states to do the very same.
POWER OUR WORK → [[link removed]]We knew there was a real chance that this extremist-packed SCOTUS would overturn Roe v. Wade this year, so our team identified Michigan as a crucial state to protect abortion access via ballot measure. But when Roe fell, we knew we had to do more, so we teamed up with Vermont for Reproductive Liberty to do the same. Partnering with grassroots organizers and activists in both states to launch and support campaigns provided the energy and drive to ensure the people’s will to see these measures on the ballot was successful.
Michiganders and Vermonters turned out in massive numbers to uphold the right of reproductive freedom for all. It’s a victory for direct democracy and the power of ordinary voters.
However, we know anti-choice extremists will see these key purple state victories and use whatever means necessary to obstruct the codification of reproductive rights protections in their own states. Their attacks on our efforts will only intensify as we partner with organizers and activists in other states to put reproductive freedom measures on the ballot.
We’re fighting back against anti-abortion extremists and doing everything we can to ensure reproductive freedom ballot measures win in 2023 and 2024. Will you contribute now to supercharge our efforts and power our campaigns to victory? [[link removed]]
