The Early Results
As of now, we are clearly not witnessing a Red tsunami. But we still have a decent chance to take both houses of the United States Congress.
So far, we have picked up seven House seats, but I believe there are more we can win.
In the Senate races, it appears we have held North Carolina and Ohio, which were "must win" elections. The lead in the Georgia contest is changing every ten minutes. We are behind in Pennsylvania, but there are many more votes to count.
It's way too early to know what the outcome will be in Arizona and Nevada, where we have a chance to win both Senate seats.
So far, the big political development of the night, which shouldn't be underappreciated, is that Florida looks like it has become a solidly red state.
Gov. Ron DeSantis and Sen. Marco Rubio won by unbelievable margins. Republicans appear to have picked up four House seats, thanks in no small measure to Gov. DeSantis's aggressive redistricting efforts.
In recent years, we have watched one conservative state after another move from Red to Purple to Blue due to demographic changes. Florida is one of the most ethnically diverse states in the union, but for a variety of reasons, it has reversed that pattern.
For now, the Sunshine State appears to be a reliably Red state, which has all kinds of implications for future presidential contests.
It is going to take a while to sort all this out, but we will back to you tomorrow with additional details.
