We have exciting news tonight, team: The Fairness Project-backed ballot measure to protect reproductive rights in the Vermont constitution has won by an overwhelming margin!!
The result is a history-making victory for Vermont voters, who sent an unmistakable signal to an extremist-packed Supreme Court and obstructionist politicians: Vermonters are protecting abortion access in their state for good.
This first-of-its-kind measure now makes Vermont the first state in the nation to explicitly protect reproductive rights in its state constitution and paves the way for other states to do the very same through ballot measures.
POWER OUR WORK → [[link removed]]When the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade earlier this year, we knew we had to work in every state possible to restore the protections of this landmark ruling. Our team identified Vermont as a crucial state for abortion access and partnered with grassroots organizers and activists at Vermont for Reproductive Liberty to win this historic measure.
Tonight’s results reflect the tireless work of pro-choice advocates from across Vermont stepping up to ensure word of this campaign spread to every corner of the state.
However, we know anti-choice extremists will see this victory in Vermont and use whatever means necessary to obstruct the codification of reproductive rights protections in their own states. Their attacks on our efforts will only intensify as we partner with organizers and activists in other states to put reproductive freedom measures on the ballot.
We’re fighting back against anti-abortion extremists and doing everything we can to ensure reproductive freedom ballot measures win in 2023 and 2024. Will you contribute now to supercharge our efforts and power our campaigns to victory? [[link removed]]
