Severe Weather Shelters and Warming Centers Open in Skagit County
Skagit County Public Health has partnered with community service providers and local congregations to offer community members overnight shelters and daytime warming centers during the current severe weather event.
The Seventh Day Adventist Church located at 4520 East College Way in Mount Vernon will be open November 8, 2022, through November 12, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. The facility can serve up to fifteen individuals at a time, but has the ability to expand operations, if needed. An overnight shelter in East County at the Mount Baker Presbyterian Church Community Blessing Initiative Center located at 44942 State Route 20 in Concrete will also be operating from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. from November 8, 2022, through November 17, 2022. The facility can serve up to twelve individuals at any given time and dogs are welcome. No referrals are required. Several day-use warming centers in East County will be also available to serve individuals and families.
The Concrete Community Center located at 45821 Railroad Ave. in Concrete is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. For additional information, please call (360) 853-8400.
The East County Resource Center in Concrete located at 45770 A, Main Street is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please call (360) 416-1733 for more information.
The Upper Skagit Library is also another place to stay warm during the day. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 p.m. The facility is located at 45952 Main Street in Concrete.
