I want to thank you, John.

When we launched the NDRC in 2017, I couldn’t have imagined the path we’d take. Together, we helped win elections, advance reforms, secure fair maps, and push back against right-wing attempts to gerrymander – leading to the fairest congressional map in 40 years.

And along the way, in response to an overarching, anti-democratic strategy from too many in the GOP, we’ve had to expand our focus to protect voting rights and democracy.

This community has been there every step of the way, and I can’t thank you enough for that. In a few hours, we’ll get the first election results. But no matter how things play out tonight and in the next few days, I know our struggle isn’t over.

If MAGA Republicans have shown us anything, it’s that they’re committed to dismantling our democracy until only one party – theirs – can win elections. I’ve never been willing to let them get away with that, and I’m still not.

Today, we’ll be working right up until the last polling place closes and the last voters vote. And tomorrow, our work will continue. We’ll keep pushing for every American’s right to vote. For every vote to count the same. For the people to choose their representatives, not the other way around. For the health and promise of our democracy. And for everything that means – that is, for real improvements in people’s lives.

I know it won’t be easy. But making a real difference for the better is never easy. As daunting as this mission might seem, I know we can win if we commit ourselves, focus, devote resources, and stay in it for the long haul.
