John,
Happy Election Day 2022! Don't forget to follow along with us as we live track results for all 416 of our endorsed candidates around the country. Keep checking for results here! [[link removed]]
I'm so excited for tonight - the Victory Fund team has been working incredibly hard to ensure our candidates have the resources and support to win. And I'm excited to share the impact of that work:
We processed 754 endorsement applications, of which 502 (67%) were later endorsed. Of Victory Fund’s 502 endorsed candidates, 178 (35%) were trained by LGBTQ Victory Institute.
We provided 700+ hours of direct candidate support and campaign consulting, a 218% increase from 2020 and more than ever in Victory Fund’s 31-year history. 66% of those hours were for candidates of color and half of those hours were dedicated to Spotlight candidates.
This year’s Spotlight candidate program featured 33 down-ballot priority candidate races that will shatter lavender ceilings or increase representation in states where LGBTQ people are under attack. Victory Fund awards Spotlight endorsements to state and local candidates who can make history or increase LGBTQ representation in low-equality states or in states with few or no LGBTQ state lawmakers; this year’s cohort is the most diverse and could be the most successful ever!
Victory Fund staff were strategically deployed to 21 states (some of them are still on the road now!) to support more than 40 campaigns on the ground with fundraising assistance, field work and strategic advice. In many of these places our candidates and the LGBTQ community were under attack or being used as a wedge issue by bigoted campaigns.
We launched the “Queering DC’s ANCs” campaign to identify, recruit and support DC candidates running for the Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner (ANC) position that included an in-person training and endorsing 27 ANC candidates.
In response to redistricting and the national political environment, Victory Fund established an incumbent protection program, offering similar services to our Spotlight candidates.
And finally - don't forget to vote today [[link removed]] ! You can find voting resources and information here [[link removed]] .
Thanks for standing with us,
