Friends,

Happy New Year! Hope you're having a wonderful holiday season with family and friends. It’s 2020 and we’re setting an ambitious goal for the year ahead:

Our New Year’s resolution is simple: To win back power where it counts—in the handful of key state legislative chambers pivotal to the 2021 redistricting process and the resetting of our political maps for the next decade.

With the latest projections from the U.S. Census, population growth is shifting away from blue states like New York and California to predominantly red states like Texas and Florida. Our politics will be shaped for the next decade by these projected changes in congressional seats and the electoral college—deciding the future balance of power in Congress and presidential elections:

This makes our work all the more important. We are investing in critical states that Republicans currently control and Trump won in 2016.

We made progress in winning back the Virginia legislature this past November, but now we need your help as we face steeper challenges in 2020 retaking these long-held Republican state houses.

There’s no way to sugarcoat it: Republicans have the upperhand with decades of gerrymandering and voter suppression under their belt—solidifying their majorities. They understand that states hold tremendous power to dictate the terms, rules, and maps of our democracy, and they fundraise like it by outraising Democrats by as much as 20:1 in competitive state legislative races.

Help us kick off the new year on a strong footing as we aim to secure Democratic majorities in these critical redistricting battlegrounds that’ll decide political power in our country for the entire decade.

Together, let’s rise to the challenge of our resolution and win back power where it counts:
