John, folks in our district all have their own histories. These histories are important – they inform our beliefs, and our identities are so important to embrace.
That's why I've worked hard to embrace my own identity. My parents were Guatemalan immigrants, and we lived above a church, exchanging janitorial duties for cheaper rent.
Our family regularly volunteered at the church's soup kitchen, which is where I got to learn, even at 7 years old, about people's histories and why they were struggling.
My belief system is heavily rooted in how I grew up, John. It's why I believe in fighting to make your community better, why I believe that your elected officials should answer to you, not corporations or special interest groups.
But I need your help, John. The far right has out-spent us, and we need all hands on deck to get as many voters to the polls as possible. This is our last chance to show up and show out for the community. Will you donate $25 to help my team and I finish strong? |
