Vote Today! Pass the Environmental Bond Act
350Brooklyn has been really hustling to turn out the "Yes" vote on Proposition 1: The Environmental Bond Act. We've emailed and phoned literally hundreds of other New York State organizations asking them to promote it to their members. We've passed out over a thousand flyers at farmers markets, events, meetings, and parades. We've posted on social media and hung flyers in our neighborhoods. We joined Park Slope's Halloween parade to spread the word (see photo). And we've told you, our Community News readers, about the valuable projects it would fund and the jobs it would create. If you haven't voted already, help give this Bond Act an overwhelming YES!

Public Launch and Rally
Wednesday, Nov. 16, 5 pm. Union Square
NY Renews has a new slate of proposed legislation for 2023 and 350Brooklyn will be pitching in to help. Linking climate, jobs, and justice, these bills will fund concrete action to carry out New York State's landmark Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA). NY Renews will launch the campaign with big rallies all over the state on Wednesday, November 16. New York City's rally will be at 5 pm in Union Square. Sign up here! So let's show up!
Support "The Bigger Better Bottle Bill"
In 2022, Assemblymember Englebright and Senator May introduced the “Bigger Better Bottle Bill,” (S. 9164/ A. 10184) to modernize the state’s antiquated Bottle Deposit Law. The nickel deposit was instituted in the 80s and needs to be raised to account for inflation. Additionally wine and other types of beverage bottles were not included and should be. Please sign the petition to urge Gov. Hochul to include an expanded and modernized Bottle Bill in her proposed FY 2023-2024 Executive Budget.
Submit to Parts Per Million!
Parts Per Million is looking for submissions for our first themed issue, ‘Our City’. How are the five boroughs of NYC affected by, and dealing with, climate change? What do you see, or not see, happening locally to combat it? What has your personal response been to that? Have you found ways to channel your concern into action? Are there examples of resilience or progress that give you hope?
Submissions can be of original work in any medium! We encourage a limit of 3,000 words for written submissions, and a maximum length of 5 minutes for audio or video. Please send all submissions to [email protected] by November 30, 2022, with your full name, pronouns, and title of piece. We will review all submissions and respond within two weeks of the deadline. If you have any questions please feel free to send an email. Thank you so much for your interest!
Listen to Climate Check's Newest Episode, "The Inflation Reduction Act: It Really is Historic"
Climate Check's 11th episode is out now! In this episode, host Eva Dean talks all things Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) with Liz Moran, the New York Policy Advocate for Earth Justice, the public interest environmental law firm. Liz gives us a broad picture of the law and what it means for New York. She gives us the fundamental tenets of the law, walking us through much of the good the law will do in electrification, solar energy, fair-wage jobs. While the IRA is a huge win for the planet, we also hear what's lacking, like training for those green-collar jobs, and what's outright bad, provisions that will prolong the use of fossil fuels. Take a listen wherever you get your podcasts.
Join The Power Hour Team 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EDT, Every Monday and Wednesday
and by Popular Demand, Evening Power Hour, Wednesday at 8:00 pm EDT
Join the Power Hour Team this Wednesday, Nov. 9th, 12-1 pm and 8-9 pm. Come to one, or come to both! We are in the final days of one of 350Brooklyn's highest priority campaigns: Protecting Local Law 97 which requires buildings over 25,000 sq ft to become energy efficient and create over 140,000 new jobs. We must make sure the Adams administration and the real estate lobby do not weaken the law via loopholes.
We have less than a week to mobilize council members to testify in support of a strong Local Law 97, push out a social media campaign (which YOU can help with) and finish up our own testimony for the public hearing November 14th.
Don’t worry, we will provide a great toolkit and guide you through the whole process. Sign up to become a part of history-making with the world's boldest urban climate plan ever enacted! Already written your testimony? We'll have bonus actions ready for you!

NOTE: City Action tabling at Grand Army Plaza has ended for the season but watch this space for the return of ‘Coffee & Clipboarding’ and other freestyle canvassing events!
