Trust Conference 2022 – It’s a wrap!

Trust Conference 2022 highlights video

Three years after the last in-person Trust Conference due to the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 600 delegates from around the world came together for our flagship event in London. Held over two days on 26-27 October, more than 25 sessions took place, including inspiring keynotes, engaging panel discussions and insightful fireside chats that focused on pressing global challenges - from defending media freedom and digital rights to creating inclusive and sustainable economies.

On day one of Trust Conference, we were joined by speakers including Christiane Amanpour CBE, Chief International Anchor at CNN; Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, Project Manager at the Thomson Reuters Foundation; Dmitry Muratov, Nobel Laureate and Editor-in-Chief of Novaya Gazeta; and Gabriela Ramos, Assistant Director-General for the Social and Human Sciences at UNESCO. Our expert speakers examined an array of topics - from the legal threats being levied against independent media to the risks and opportunities that technology poses to human rights and press freedoms.

On day two of the conference, our speakers – including Vanessa Nakate, Climate Justice Activist; Dhananjayan Sriskandarajah, CEO of Oxfam GB; and Mark Malloch-Brown, President of Open Society Foundations – unpacked critical issues, such as assessing the progress of the green energy transition and exploring whether sustainable development strategies are effectively tackling persistent inequality. We also looked ahead to COP27 with Inger Andersen, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme and Laurie Goering, Climate Change Editor of our new journalism platform Context, who outlined the significance of this year’s climate forum.
