Hi John.
It’s an incredible honor to serve you in the U.S. House of Representatives.
I was raised by a single mom. She served in the Army for twenty years and later worked at the Postal Service. I put myself through college while juggling multiple jobs and was the first person in my family to receive a degree. I’m still paying off the student loans I incurred today.
We didn’t have a lot growing up, but we worked hard. I know a lot of folks share those Kansas values too.
So whether we agree on every issue or not, I’m always here to serve you – regardless of party. I’m fighting corruption and extremism across the political spectrum so we can deliver results for hardworking Kansans.
That’s why I stood up to leaders in my own party to stop congressional pay raises. And then I stood up to them again to fight insider stock trading in Congress.
I pushed the president to reopen closed oil refineries to get gas prices down. And I voted against my party’s leaders when they tried to rush a vote to waive fiscally responsible budget rules.
I also worked with Republicans to bring hundreds of USDA jobs to the KC metro. It wasn’t popular with my party’s leaders, but it was the right thing to do for Kansas.
And I’ve remained focused on concrete and bipartisan solutions to build a better future – with more jobs and lower prices.
I worked with Republicans to pass a historic and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. And I also worked with Senator Moran to help pass a major, bipartisan manufacturing law to secure U.S. supply chains and stand up to China.
And I voted to stand up to Big Pharma and finally let Medicare negotiate for lower prices.
And I’m proud of how my team and I helped make a difference for Kansans by delivering on community projects to create jobs, relief for local businesses, and so much more.
We still have a lot more work to do. But I know that by finding common ground, Kansans can move forward together.
My team and I have made it a priority to stay connected and accountable with Kansans – whether through emails like this one, or by giving you opportunities to share feedback in surveys and more. We were honored to earn a Democracy Award for those efforts by the nonpartisan Congressional Management Foundation.
Everyone deserves a government that works for them – not just for big corporations, special interests, or the extremes of either party. I’m here for you, no matter what.
If you have any questions, please always feel free to contact me.
My warmest regards,
Sharice L. Davids Member of Congress
