With the stakes higher than ever in recent memory, I know it can be nerve wracking to wait around for the results of tonight’s elections. All over the country, races up and down the ballot will have enormous consequences for the future of our rights and our democracy.

From state legislators and state supreme court justices to governors and secretaries of state, the officials we elect at the state level tonight will have the power to either protect our democracy or degrade it even further.

That's why the NDRC went all out and spared no expense to support nearly 500 Democracy Defenders in key races across the nation. We worked in 17 battleground states to ensure the officials we help elect today will be committed to strengthening our democracy — not subverting it.

But we also know that this work is a marathon, not a sprint. Whether pro-democracy candidates win or lose tonight, we’re still going to have to keep working to stop anti-democratic forces in the Republican Party in 2023 and 2024. They’re not giving up, and neither can we.
