Dear friend,
In January, it’ll be the 3rd birthday of my youngest kid. And it’ll also mark the 3rd anniversary of almost dying.
I almost became a statistic that day – one of the 861 maternal deaths that occurred in 2020 in the United States. But thankfully the medical team that day saved me. The decisions they made gave me the opportunity to be here today. The only cost was my now deeply scarred and frankensteined uterus. Knowing that I wanted to expand my family, my OB/GYN did her best to repair me but overly cautioned that I would be putting my life on the line if I did.
If it came down to my life, my next pregnancy could lead to an abortion. But that might not even be an option anywhere in the United States if the Republicans have their way.
Look, I know you must be furious at the Democrats too. They had all this time to codify Roe and they wasted it. I’m pissed just like you. And my situation, and the situations other women are in, just makes us angrier.

But in times like these, I like to remember one of my favorite quotes. “Hope has two beautiful daughters; their names are Anger and Courage. Anger at the way things are, and Courage to see that they do not remain as they are.”
So I ask, today on November 8th, will you choose Courage? Will you make it to the polls and make sure that things do not remain as they are? Will you fight like hell for people like me, just as I fight like hell for people like you? Like I fight for my family and for my girls?
I don’t want anyone else to become a statistic. All across the board. From reproductive rights to environmental justice to criminal justice reform. No more statistics. Just actions. Let’s elect the progressive champions who will get us there.
Thanks for your support,

PowerPAC is a social justice organization that strategically directs financial and human resources to local and state organizations working to deliver wins in legislative fights, ballot initiatives, and more. For years the money we've raised has, dollar for dollar, been given back to the communities we work with. We've made sure that your investments were being used to build power for our communities because too often we are underrepresented and ignored.
