America Votes

After hearing closing arguments from the parties: Republicans slammed Democrats over the high cost of gasoline and other goods and the rise in violent crime in some places on their watch. “This fundamental transformation of America is fundamentally destroying this country,” said Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) on the trail in Waukesha, Wis., after bemoaning high energy costs. “And we know it and that’s why we we’re going to vote in the polls” (Washington Post). Record numbers voted early in Georgia: When combing Early Voting and absentee ballots, Georgia exceeded 2.5 million votes cast before Election Day on Tuesday. More than 75% of absentee ballots have been returned to county election offices as of Friday (Fox News). Record numbers expected to vote even as elites decry threat to democracy: The scariest thing to ponder is that what’s been said about this election — that democracy is at stake, that the future of the republic is on the line — might actually be right (ABC). CNBC: The 2022 elections are expected to cost over $16.7 billion, making them the most expensive midterms ever (CNBC).

2022: Most Important Election of Our Lifetime
Albert Mohler: The political importance of Pennsylvania was underscored over the weekend as no less than three presidents landed in the swing state in the final weekend of campaigning. President Joe Biden joined former Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump in the Keystone State, and the three presidents agreed on one central message to voters: This is the most consequential election of your lifetime… The partisan division of our day reveals a more basic worldview divide. With each national election cycle, the divide grows deeper and the issues loom larger. Biological males competing as girls and women on sports teams? This election may well determine that question in terms of national policy and law (WNG). Remember who is on the ballot. The same people who shut down schools, forced mask, vaccine mandates, fired people for not getting vaccinated and still refuse to surrender their emergency powers are asking you to vote them back into office.

Larry Sabato Predicts Republicans Take Senate, House
Fox News: Sabato predicts that Republicans will win the Senate, 51-49, with a net gain of one seat. His final House pick is for Republicans, 237-198, netting a gain of 24 seats. In the gubernatorial race, Sabato predicts that Republicans will win 29-21, gaining one governorship. Republicans, Sabato notes, have honed their key message of fixing the economy and tackling inflation as the president’s approval rating has plummeted to the low 40s (Fox News). Center for Politics: The confounding factors, such as Republican candidate problems in certain Senate, gubernatorial, and House races; the unpopularity of the GOP-controlled Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade; and the lingering presence of Biden’s predecessor all combine to give Democrats an opportunity to limit their losses (Center for Politics).

Elon Musk Endorses GOP in Midterms
Bloomberg: Twitter owner Elon Musk told his audience of more than 100 million followers on the social-media platform to vote for Republicans—on the eve of midterm elections where Democrats are poised for losses (Bloomberg). Elon Musk: To independent-minded voters: Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic (Twitter).

Tulsi Gabbard Urges Michigan Voters to Oppose Abortion Proposition
National Review: Former Democratic congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard supports a right to abortion, but she is nevertheless urging voters to oppose Michigan’s Prop 3, which would add an unlimited right to abortion to the Michigan state constitution (National Review). Tulsi Gabbard: I urge Michigan residents to protect women, parental rights & children by voting against Proposal 3 that includes loopholes to allow late-term/partial birth abortion (which is really infanticide) & overturns law to inform parents of a child pursuing abortion/hormone therapies (Twitter). Breitbart: She warned that if voters approve this change to the state Constitution, it could have “devastating impacts” on Michigan families (Breitbart).

Politico Claims Voting Machines Can be Hacked Despite Denying Hacking in 2020
Daily Wire: The Beltway’s favorite left-wing propaganda outlet is dabbling in some “election denying” by wondering if certain voting machines can be trusted in Tuesday’s elections. If you’re confused by this warning, having previously been admonished by the Democratic Party and their all-too-eager media allies that anybody who dares question the integrity of a U.S. election is a fascist and a threat to democracy, it’s understandable. But please, try to keep up (Daily Wire). Politico: The 2020 presidential election was rife with allegations of voting machine hacks that were later debunked. Yet there are real risks that hackers could tunnel into voting equipment and other election infrastructure to try to undermine Tuesday’s vote (Twitter).

Lanhee Chen Looks to Bring Accountability in California
The Candidate for State Controller: I do think there comes a point at which people realize that things are not going right. And whether it’s because of soaring gas prices or the homelessness crisis or what we see throughout the state in terms of public schools not performing where they should be. I mean, all of these challenges, Hugh, these challenges are big challenges, but I think they’re solvable ones. And at some point people say, You know what? We want to get some accountability for the money we’re spending. California spends $300 billion a year, and we have very little accountability for where that money goes (Daybreak Daily). Lanhee Chen: Californians are tired of seeing the hard-earned tax dollars they send to Sacramento wasted. As CA families are being crushed by rising prices, it’s more important than ever that we spend our tax dollars wisely. As Controller, I’ll make sure that we do (Twitter).

Russian Entrepreneur Admits to Meddling in US Elections
Associated Press: Kremlin-connected entrepreneur Yevgeny Prigozhin admitted Monday that he had interfered in U.S. elections and would continue to do so — confirming for the first time the accusations that he has rejected for years. “Gentlemen, we have interfered, are interfering and will interfere. Carefully, precisely, surgically and in our own way, as we know how to do,” Prigozhin boasted in remarks posted on social media. It was the second major admission in recent months by the 61-year-old businessman, who has ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Prigozhin has previously sought to keep his activities under the radar and now appears increasingly interested in gaining political clout — although his goal in doing so was not immediately clear (Associated Press). CBS: Prigozhin is the financial benefactor behind a so-called Russian “troll farm” previously called the Internet Research Agency. The group, which has changed it’s name multiple times, creates and uses inauthentic social media pages to spread misinformation or incendiary speech to affect voters and sow discord. Such organizations are believed to exist in Russia, China and Iran, at least, with the same intent (CBS).

White House Says Biden’s Comments Regarding Shutting Down Coal Industry Were “Twisted”
National Review: Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during Monday’s White House press briefing that President Biden’s vow to “shut down coal plants all over America” was “twisted” by the press. Addressing the crowd at a rally in San Diego County on Friday, Biden suggested that coal plants should be shuttered because they are no longer economically viable (National Review). Even Democrats are upset. West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin: President Biden’s comments are not only outrageous and divorced from reality, they ignore the severe economic pain the American people are feeling because of rising energy costs. Comments like these are the reason the American people are losing trust in President Biden and instead believes he does not understand the need to have an all in energy policy that would keep our nation totally energy independent and secure (Manchin).

Whistleblower Emerges Alleging President Biden Was Actively Involved in Son’s Business Dealings
Daily Mail: Joe Biden was involved in his son Hunter’s foreign business deals while he was Vice President, a new whistleblower with direct knowledge claims. The whistleblower has identified themselves to Senate investigators but asked to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals. The informant says they were party to a 2012 conference call involving then-VP Joe, Hunter, 52, his business partner Jeff Cooper, 53, late Senate majority leader Harry Reid and his son Key Reid, 48, who was also in business with Hunter (Daily Mail). Radar: The phone call was allegedly in connection to a venture into online gambling in Latin America at the time, and although then-VP Biden was active on the phone call, he was reportedly only involved as a “silent partner” to the venture. This would be just the latest whistleblower to come forward claiming President Biden was directly involved in his 52-year-old son’s overseas business dealings (Radar).
