All are welcome to join Seattle DSA to discuss the results of the 2022 midterm elections, what they mean for the working class, the climate, abortion rights, anti racism, and our work building the socialist and left movements.

If it's a bloodbath for the Democrats, with the GOP potentially winning control of Congress, does this mean that the Democrats’ policies were too left wing for working people? Is the US working class hopelessly right wing? What can we learn from the elections? What do the results mean for struggle? Will we enter a period of demoralization or one flourishing with movements? What should DSA and the Left focus on?

We have an impressive lineup of speakers who will talk about national as well as local results and how we can fight the Right.

Liza Featherstone is a columnist for Jacobin, a freelance journalist, and the author of Selling Women Short: The Landmark Battle for Workers’ Rights at Wal-Mart. Her most recent Jacobin article predicting a major loss for the Democrats this November can be found here.

John Nichols is the national affairs correspondent for The Nation and is a contributing writer for The Progressive and In These Times and the associate editor of the Capital Times, the daily newspaper in Madison, Wisconsin. His articles have appeared in TheNew York TimesChicago Tribune, and dozens of other newspapers.

Katie Wilson is executive director of Transit Riders Union, which spearheaded the ballot initiative to raise the minimum wage in Tukwila to match that of Seatac, effective 2023.

Gustavo Gordillo, DSA National Political Committee member, NYC DSA

Typically Seattle DSA meets for its monthly chapter membership meeting on the first Tuesday of each month. However, given the importance of the midterms, we changed the date this month to this Thursday, Nov. 10.

See you on the 10th at 7pm! And please RSVP
