"The outbreak of cholera threatens more misery on hundreds of thousands of Syrians already at risk from hunger, conflict, and the coming winter. Across the country some 70% of the population now need help to meet their basic survival needs."
โ€” Tanya Evans, IRC Syria Country Director

Friend โ€”

Following years of fighting, there is now 40% less drinking water in Syria than before the conflict began. The scarcity of clean drinking water is driving a spike in cholera cases caused by ingesting contaminated water or food.

The Euphrates River is the main water source in Syria for hundreds of thousands of people. In areas where the piped water supply does not meet their basic needs, many people are left looking for alternative sources that may be contaminated by sewage.

Friend, we're in this for the long-haul: We pledge to put the needs of those most affected by the crisis at the forefront of our efforts and to achieve measurable improvements in safety, health, and economic well-being. Support from monthly contributions powers our response to emergencies like this each and every day. Can you help us support communities in Syria and crisis zones worldwide by beginning a monthly gift today?

We also support healthcare facilities and mobile health teams to provide trauma services as well as primary, reproductive, and mental health care in Syria. And, our COVID-19 response includes training health workers in infection prevention and control.
