as you may have seen in the headlines, MAGA-GOP figureheads like Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell have made it very clear that they have intentions of gutting programs that our seniors and low-income families depend on for a living.

Some infamous quotes:

"Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid" funding constitutes "the real driver of the debt." – Mitch McConnell

“We’re going to become Greece as a nation if we don’t turn this around. It’s going to require compromise on Medicare and Social Security.” – Lindsey Graham

“Johnson warns in his campaign website that Social Security benefits may have to be “cut” without enough money to support the program. Yet Johnson enthusiastically voted during the Trump administration to slash corporate taxes 40%, sucking an estimated $2.3 trillion out of the American Treasury over 10 years.” - HuffPost article on Ron Johnson.

They will ultimately deflect and deny from their statements, but the receipts are available online: they have ALWAYS gone after social programs when they are in power, even going so far as to limit Covid-19 relief and reject federal funding for unemployment benefits.

John, this is not a drill - this has always been the plan. They will squeeze every dime out of social programs to make room for tax cuts for their corporate buddies and to keep their pockets lined.
