John, did you have a chance to take action on this crucial Senate race yet?

A former Special Forces General turned radical right-wing Senate nominee for the GOP from New Hampshire has a plan to end our democracy.

Think I'm being hyperbolic? Don Bolduc, a full-on MAGA-Republican fascist, called on Americans to "rejoice" when Roe V. Wade was overturned, and said he'd fully ban abortion. As Democratic, pro-choice Senator Maggie Hassan--whom we MUST reelect!---put it at the time:

“He said he would vote for any anti-choice legislation in the U.S. Senate, and that he would never compromise,”

It's chilling.

Can you join Blue Amp Action in giving $2, $5, $10 or whatever you can afford to Senator Maggie Hassan to protect abortion and voting rights?

But, his position on the U.S. Senate may be even more terrifying. He's quietly, along with right-wing cranks, pushed for the repeal of the 17th Amendment. The 17th Amendment gave Americans the ability to elect Senators in their states a century ago, because in another period of vast corruption, progressives knew state legislatures--who picked U.S. Senators at the time--were easily bought by big money.

So, progressives passed the 17th Amendment. And much like getting rid of Social Security or abortion rights, even talking about repealing the 17th Amendment was a fringe, fever swamp idea for the 20th and early 21st Century. But, now, it's championed by the insane Bolduc, and others.

It is not hyperbole to say if the 17th Amendment were repealed DEMOCRATS WOULD NEVER AGAIN CONTROL THE U.S. SENATE.

This would ensure that along with the bias towards small states (ie Wyoming having as many Senators as California), monied interests who've already bought state legislators would get to pick Senators in larger states where they've gerrymandered Democrats into a minority (see Ohio, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Texas, etc).

Meanwhile, Maggie Hassan is one of the most forceful voices on codifying Roe, protecting women's rights and ensuring MORE PEOPLE VOTE, not fewer like millions fewer as Bolduc wants.

We must defeat Republicans on Election Day. We must, in particular, defeat dangerous extremist Bolduc and reelect Senator Maggie Hassan in New Hampshire. We not only need this great Senator in the Senate, but her seat could decide whether we remain in the majority or Mitch McConnell becomes the new Senate leader.

Can you join Blue Amp Action in giving $2, $5, $10 or whatever you can afford to Senator Maggie Hassan to protect abortion and voting rights?

Thank you for keeping up the fight!

About BlueAmp Action:

We cannot sugarcoat the current situation. Right-wing authoritarianism, defeated by a worldwide coalition during WWII, was only in hibernation. Over the past decade it has infected democratic societies--including ours. It is as simple as it is terrifying: What we do now will define the future of our country and world.

We at Blue Amp Action are dedicated to liberal, open societies, where reason and science are applied to solve our problems; where civil rights--including voting rights!--are protected for all. We fight for these values every day. Speaking up on our platforms, raising the voices and the political prospects of liberal pols and pundits.

So we ask that you support our work, so we can continue to engage in this fight every moment of every day. So our kids grow up in democracy, not dystopia.

Thank you for your support for all we do! Please follow Cliff Schecter on Twitter @cliffschecter, or subscribe to The Takedown with Cliff Schecter on YouTube, to keep up to date with this battle for the heart and soul of our country.
