Yesterday I joined folks from across the state at a rally in Long Beach in support of reproductive freedom, and I’m fired up.
Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, we’ve seen a spate of Republican attacks on abortion rights. State after state has implemented bans on care, and millions have lost access as a result.
Not in California – and we’re going to keep it that way. I’ve worked to ensure that all who can access to reproductive care in our state, and to protect the rights and the privacy of those seeking abortion care.
Passing Proposition 1 is the next step in that work, and will codify that right into the California constitution. It’s critical that we pass this proposition, and then that we continue the fight to restore and protect reproductive freedom in every corner of the country.
It won’t be easy, not with right-wing extremists pushing more and more strict measures to control reproductive care – measures that could affect IVF, birth control, and more. But it is necessary, and we will not give up.
