In the past week, AIPAC’s super PAC has spent over $1 million attacking progressive Summer Lee and siding with her far-right Republican opponent.

If AIPAC’s affiliates succeed in defeating Summer Lee, it could tip the balance in favor of Republican control of the House of Representatives.

AIPAC would rather see extremist Republicans win a majority in Congress—and threaten our democracy and our rights—than see any elected leaders speaking up about Palestinian rights. They want to continue Israeli apartheid at all costs.

We need to send Summer to Congress to join our Squad and fight alongside us for justice, and also to protect our Democratic majority in the House. We cannot afford to lose a Democratic House seat in her deep-blue district.

Spending an additional $2 million trying to defeat Summer in an earlier primary election, AIPAC’s affiliates spread disinformation to say she was “not a real Democrat.”

So it’s ironic that they’re spending more than $1 million to support her MAGA Republican opponent, who supports a federal abortion ban and wants to cut Social Security and Medicare.

As J Street National Political Director Laura Birnbaum said: “AIPAC’s actions make clear that they really mean it when they say that nothing matters to them other than unquestioning support for Israel—not the survival of American democracy, nor the core values and concerns of the majority of Jewish Americans.”

This comes after AIPAC’s PAC endorsed and raised funds for over 100 MAGA Republicans who tried to overturn the 2020 election—and who court and work alongside white nationalists espousing hate and violence.

These Republicans continue to sow disinformation as part of dismantling our democracy and suppressing voting rights. This is part of why Summer’s far-right opponent has gained support. He is hiding the fact that he’s a Republican and playing up the fact that his name happens to be the same as the retiring incumbent Democrat, who has held the seat for decades.

We cannot let Republicans and AIPAC defeat Summer Lee—who would be Pennsylvania’s first Black woman in Congress—nor can we let them hand the House to Republicans.
