New on Abortion Finder

For too many people the costs associated with traveling out of state to access abortion care can be overwhelming and insurmountable. That's why we've added a “Find Assistance” tab on Abortion Finder’s state-by-state guide pages ([link removed]) !

This section includes information about abortion funds and practical support organizations that can help pay for your abortion or offer other support such as lodging, childcare, meals, and local and long-distance transportation.

Check out your options at AbortionFinder.org ([link removed]) !

Starting the Conversation About Pregnancy Desire

One Key Question^® (OKQ) is a pregnancy desire screening tool that research shows dramatically increases patient satisfaction ([link removed]) . Available online, the OKQ approach is patient-centered and focuses on equally supporting those who want to get pregnant, those who do not, and those who are ambivalent and is used by thousands nationwide. We also offer a Preconception and Contraception Pathways to Care online training which takes the conversation one step further by teaching providers how to offer preconception and contraception counseling and care in a personalized, non-judgmental, and unbiased way.

Both OKQ and Pathways to Care are available as stand-alone trainings. A discounted training bundle is available for those interested in taking both the OKQ and Pathways trainings. Simply visit our online shop ([link removed]) to begin your training.

FDA Advisory Committee Postpones Review of OTC Birth Control Pill Application

On October 26, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that it was postponing its Advisory Committee hearing to review the first-ever application for an over-the-counter (OTC) birth control pill. The meeting was originally scheduled for November 18. We will update you as more information becomes available from the FDA. In the meantime, you can still support the effort to #FreeThePill ([link removed]) by sharing written testimony ([link removed]) with the FDA about what it would mean for you or your community to have birth control pills available on the shelf at your local drugstore.

We also encourage you to lift up the importance of an OTC birth control pill during Thanks, Birth Control Day ([link removed]) on November 16.
