Fighting Fentanyl: Narcan Training
Friend,
I recently attended the Kenosha County Drug Take Back Day and completed a training session on the use of Narcan. Narcan is a life saving tool to combat the rise in fentanyl overdoses and tragic deaths.
Fentanyl is a deadly substance that is continuing to devastate families in our community. Far too often, I speak with mothers and fathers who have lost their son or daughter to a fentanyl overdose. More recently, this deadly substance is often found in drugs like marijuana and cocaine. Fentanyl is now the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18-45.
To fight back, we must take action to stop the rise of fentanyl entering our communities. I've hosted several roundtables across Wisconsin to raise awareness and discuss the tools officials at the local, state, and federal level use to fight fentanyl.

At the federal level, I have supported legislation to make illicit fentanyl a permanent Schedule I drug. This would give local District Attorneys the tools needed to prosecute fentanyl offenses in order to keep these drugs off our streets. We need to use every tool in our tool kit to keep Americans and our communities safe.
If you have a story you'd like to share with me about fentanyl or a suggestion for how we can keep these dangerous substances out of our community, I'd like to hear from you.
In case you missed the Drug Take Back day last Saturday, the DEA hosts these events twice a year. Check out the DEA Website for more information.
