John, tomorrow is Election Day: the day we’ve been working toward.

I first announced I was running for Congress in New Mexico’s 2nd congressional district in September 2021 because I was tired of seeing my home represented by a far-right extremist whose voting record has clearly ignored the needs of the people she was elected to serve.

One of Yvette Herrell’s first votes in Congress was to overturn the 2020 presidential election results, attempting to throw out the votes of millions of people for the sake of keeping Donald Trump in power. It’s an example of partisan politics at its worst.

But since then, Herrell has further proved she’s too extreme for NM-02 by supporting the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, and backing legislation to ban abortion nationwide with no exceptions for rape, incest, or the life of the mother.

Not only that, but Herrell has voted against raising wages, capping insulin prices at $35, lowering other prescription drug costs, improving healthcare for our veterans, protecting our public lands and taking action on climate change, and investing in our district, state, and country’s infrastructure.

New Mexicans deserve better, and I am committed to fighting for them.

I’m a first-generation American born and raised in the borderlands. Growing up, my mother taught me the value of hard work, to respect all, and to help those in need. It’s why I decided to become a public servant, serving my community as a staff member for U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich and later as a Las Cruces City Councilor — and it’s the core reason why I’m running for Congress. New Mexicans need a representative in Washington who will fight for their most basic human rights, defend our democracy, stand up for working families, lower healthcare costs, and take on tough challenges like climate change.

I am ready to fight for you in Congress, and tomorrow is our chance to make that happen.
