Dear Friend,
I am writing to inform you that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has released nearly $4.5 billion for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). This includes an additional $1 billion secured by Congress to address rising gas prices nationwide.
Connecticut’s low-income families will receive $86.353 million of this federal funding ahead of the winter season.
For more than 40 years, LIHEAP has provided assistance to help individuals and families maintain safe and healthy indoor temperatures.
LIHEAP helps low-income households pay home heating and cooling bills, prevent energy shutoffs, restore services, make minor energy-related home repairs, and weatherize homes to make them more energy efficient.
Individuals interested in applying for energy assistance can visit energyhelp.us or call the National Energy Assistance Referral (NEAR) hotline toll-free at: 1-866-674-6327.
As always, please feel free to reach out to my Bridgeport Office at 203-333-6600 with any questions.
Sincerely,
Jim
