Hi John,
[link removed]
The UN climate talks kicked off yesterday, as the World Meteorological Association revealed that the last 8 years have been the hottest on record ([link removed]) . The rate of sea level rise has accelerated, European glacier melt has shattered records and extreme weather has caused devastation from Pakistan to Puerto Rico.
At the very least the visibility of these impacts seems to be forcing world leaders to acknowledge the urgent necessity of conversations about climate reparations. Loss and Damage has made it onto the COP27 agenda, but the opening negotiations have shown that vulnerable countries will have a big fight on their hands to secure it. We need a show of force to pressure the UK government to back Loss and Damage.
This Saturday, hundreds of thousands of people will take to the streets all across the world to show that we care about climate justice. We're expecting significant turnouts in London and Edinburgh, and in over 30 locations across the country. If you’re able, please stand with us.
** LONDON ([link removed])

Global Justice Now supporters, activists and staff will be gathering from 11am at the International Brigade Memorial in Jubilee Gardens, Central London (see on map ([link removed]) ), with other members of the Climate Reparations Bloc, who will be holding a vigil for Chris Kaba. The main march meets at 12 noon outside the Shell HQ, Belvedere Road SE1 (just next to Jubilee Gardens). The closest tube and rail station is Waterloo.
** EDINBURGH ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
Join Global Justice Now and many other groups at 12pm at St Andrews Square to march a route that brings to life the multiple crises we are facing. At each location, groups will engage the march in key issues and resistance: expect music, art and excitement! Check out the Facebook event ([link removed]) for more info, including the specific route.
