Tomorrow is Election Day, and we've got great resources--below and at pflag.org/Votes--to help you make informed and important decisions at the ballot box. We're also excited to launch our new PFLAG Connects: Military Community meeting; please share the information with anyone you know that is part of a military family with LGBTQ+ loved ones.

PFLAG Connects: Military Community

We are so excited to expand our PFLAG Connects: Communities program, with the launch of PFLAG Connects: Military Community, in partnership with our friends at Modern Military Association of America. Our program provides a safe, secure, well-moderated virtual space for the military community and its diverse population, especially for service members and military spouses with LGBTQ+ children and loved ones.

Our first meeting will be held on Monday, November 14th at 9pm ET/6pm PT

If you’re part of this community and are looking for a space to speak with other military families with LGBTQ+ loved ones--or if you know of others who would benefit from this space--please visit pflagnation.al/PCMil111422 to register, or share the link widely with those you know.

Three Steps to Being an Ally During Solidarity Week

Solidarity Week--formerly Ally Week--begins today! Here are a few ways to make sure you are in solidarity with the causes you believe in and the people you want to support.

  1. Learn: Visit GLSEN’s website to learn more about Solidarity Week and how to join the campaign. Brush up on your own ally skills by checking out our page on the Straight For Equality Ally Spectrum
  2. Watch: Take a look at some installments of PFLAG Academy Online that talk about allyship and solidarity with less visible identities, such as bisexuality+, the “+” in LGBTQ+, and one on supporting trans and nonbinary loved ones. Additionally, be sure to review some recordings from We Are the Change: The 2021 PFLAG National Convention, which you can find by signing in with your convention account.
  3. Share: Fill out your own #InSolidarityWith sign to take a selfie with and post across social media with hashtag “#InSolidarityWith.” Be sure to tag us on social media (@pflag on all platforms) so that we can show our support!

Advocacy

#PFLAGVotes: Tomorrow is the day!

Election Day is tomorrow, and voter safety is one of our biggest priorities for these midterms. New laws and interference from anti-democratic forces may make voting more difficult for some, especially voters of color and trans or non-binary voters. You have the right to vote- regardless of what anti-democratic forces might think. We have resources to help if you run into difficulty at your polling station tomorrow. And of course, you'll find all of our resources for Election Day at pflag.org/Vote.

We hope you have a safe, easy, and successful Election Day!

Something to Talk About...Live!

You Guys, Dude, and Hey Girl Hey -- The Evolution of Language

The way we talk about various aspects of our identity changes all the time. For some people, changes like this come easily. For others, however, they may be slow to adapt or even resistant to change.

Join us this Thursday, November 10 at 4:30 PM ET / 1:30 PM PT for Something to Talk About Live where we will discuss "'Pregnant woman' replaced with 'pregnant people' on CDC flu vaccine advice website” by Zachary Rodgers, which appeared in The National Desk. We're excited to welcome PFLAG National staff members Jackson Alder, Jamie Henkel, and Liz Owen to the conversation!

As always, you can find us on Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

To learn more--and to check out our discussion questions in advance--visit pflagnation.al/STTALive-111022.

Remember: We're here to help. Find us all at pflag.org/about/our-people.

Let’s stay safe, stay healthy--and stay connected.

We're here for you,
Team PFLAG National
