Election Day Countdown:
John, this is the final push before Election Day. We’re making sure we’re prepared for any outcome — including if election deniers dispute the results of this election or falsely claim victory.
But we’re down to the wire here and need your help to make sure these elections are decided by the people, not candidates.
Our Election Protection volunteers are going to be there every step of the way — including after polls close to monitor the vote count and make sure we apply what we've learned for 2024. As I write you, we’re still making our final arrangements and placing volunteers at critical polling sites — and we need your help for this final push. Are you with us?
John, millions of voters may find themselves facing new obstacles at the ballot box tomorrow. Don’t worry — we have a plan to fight back no matter what’s thrown their way.
Since we launched our Protect the Vote 2022 campaign — our urgent response to GOP-led voter suppression laws and anti-democracy disinformation — we’ve helped voters overcome new restrictions in states like Georgia and Texas, recruiting and training thousands of volunteers to work in primary and general elections across the nation.
I’m inspired by how many Common Cause members have answered the call — volunteering hours of their time to fight voter suppression in their communities, ensuring every voter knows their rights, and vigorously pushing back against right-wing election denial.
With the possible exception of 2020’s record-setting mobilization, we have never signed up this many Election Protection volunteers before. That’s especially important in a midterm year, where far too many Americans simply tune out that an election is even happening.
But I’m glad to see you — and thousands just like you — know we can’t afford to let that happen this year.
Now here’s the challenge: We've had to rapidly scale up our volunteer training program to match this historic level of interest, sharing the lessons learned from the primaries this year while stepping up our recruitment efforts even further.
The result? With your help, we are fielding thousands more nonpartisan election protection volunteers at the highest-need polling places across the country.
Even now, we are holding last minute trainings as I write you — tailored to each state and jurisdiction’s specific election rules. And in an environment where we know there will be litigation and other last-minute changes to voting procedures, we’re equipping them so they’re ready for anything.
Each additional volunteer we field costs us $50. This covers the expert training, legal backup, and tech infrastructure to support them during Election Day and beyond. So, your $50 investment translates into hundreds of voters now able to cast their ballots free of fear or intimidation!
John, thousands of voters across the country are counting on your support to help them cast a ballot, free of suppression or intimidation. Please act now to sponsor a volunteer today >>
John, it’s been amazing to see the difference our trained and dedicated volunteers have already made this year.
With your help, we’ll be able to repeat those successes nationwide tomorrow — strengthening our democracy through voter participation, and building a better future for us all.
Thank you,
Sylvia Albert, Director of Voting and Elections
