In just a moment, I’m going to ask you to make a small donation to The Democratic Association of Secretaries of States ahead of tomorrow. But before I do, let me explain why this election is one of the most important ones in our lifetimes:
While Democrats have been focusing on expanding the right to vote through landmark legislation, Republicans have been trying to limit it. And to this day, many in the GOP still refuse to accept the results of the 2020 election and continue to parrot radical conspiracy theories.
Now, those same election-denying Republicans are vying to become Secretary of State in swing states across the nation, which would make them the top official in charge of running elections. They’d also have the power to certify the results of the 2024 election.
The thought of an election denier becoming a top election official is horrifying, but it’s a real possibility.
That’s why I’m emailing you, John. At this critical moment, we must elect Democratic Secretaries of State who will defend access to the ballot and fend off these unprecedented attacks on our democratic process.
