Many of you know that I got into politics through my advocacy for gun safety after my son was shot and killed. I know firsthand how hard it is to make progress in the face of powerful interests like the gun lobby — and I know that progress would be a lot easier if we had more politicians in office who prioritize protecting the lives of their constituents.
Jen has proven time and time again that she's not afraid of groups like the NRA. She's sponsored legislation to keep guns away from domestic abusers, she's championed background checks, and she recently was a strong opponent of Georgia's new permitless carry legislation.
Our current Attorney General Chris Carr, on the other hand, has done everything he can to cozy up to the gun lobby. He publicly urged the Supreme Court to strike down laws that limit magazine capacities. He sided with the NRA when it faced a lawsuit over allegations of fraud and corruption. And he proudly takes max-out contributions from the gun lobby.
It's time Georgians had real leadership, and they need an advocate like Jen with the convictions and credentials needed to keep our families safe from gun violence. I'm proud to stand with her in this race, and I know she'll keep fighting tooth and nail for Georgians.
