Everyone on my team can tell you that asking for grassroots donations is my least favorite part of the job.

I’d much rather tell you all the nerdy details about my latest work on the climate crisis response or my plan to support our transition to clean energy.

But the reality is that all of that is contingent on the result of Tuesday’s election. FiveThirtyEight designated my district as one of the closest battleground races in the country, and RealClearPolitics ranks IL-06 a pure toss-up. Even worse, a radical right-wing super PAC just poured $1.8 million into attack ads against me in an attempt to flip IL-06 red. 

The race to decide who will represent this district is going to come down to turnout, plain and simple. And every dollar you contribute enables us to reach out to Democrats and get them to the polls on Election Day.

Illinoisans deserve better. There’s no way in hell I’m letting the MAGA squad take this district without a fight – but anything less than first place is last place.

So as much as I wish I didn’t have to ask for your hard-earned cash, it’s a key part of our strategy to win this race. Will you support our Get Out The Vote efforts by chipping in $25 to help us get to the finish line in just five days?
