John,

We’ve heard a lot of talk from the GOP and its pundits about how they are confident a red wave is coming in this year’s midterm elections. However, not much is discussed about who is funding that potential red wave.

Federal campaign finance disclosures show that since last year, oil and gas companies have been some of the biggest contributors to the Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF) and the Senate Leadership Fund (SLF) , the GOP Super PACs for the House and Senate, respectively.

It’s no secret that the Republican party is in the pocket of the oil and gas industry. That much has been known for decades now. But the extent to which they are bankrolling the GOP’s push to take back Congress this year is staggering :

*
Chevron
has
donated
$3
million
to
the
CLF
and
$2.75
million
to
the
SLF;
*
Koch
Industries
gave
$2
million
to
the
CLF
and
$1.5
million
to
the
SLF;
and
*
The
Occidental
Petroleum
Corp
contributed
$4
million
to
the
CLF
ALONE.

And that’s just scratching the surface, John. Many other fossil fuel groups have given millions of dollars to the GOPs Super PACs this cycle – and these funds most certainly come with strings attached.

The Biden administration has made historic investments in clean energy and has taken great strides to strengthen climate restrictions. A Republican takeover of Congress bankrolled by the oil and gas industry will seek to undo all of the progress we’ve made in addressing the climate crisis over the past two years and more .

From opening up more federal land for drilling to rolling back emissions regulations, the GOP’s agenda will wreak havoc on the environment. We have to prevent a Republican takeover of Congress at ALL costs. Can you make a donation right now to support green candidates in tough races across the country and help keep the House blue?
