I’m here at the UN Climate Summit – here’s my message for the world.

COP27 is our moment to take a new approach — for the planet and our future.

Talofa Global Citizen,



I have devoted my life to fighting climate change because I believe that every
person has a right to live a life free from fear.



In my home of Samoa, 70% of people live in low-lying areas of the country. As
sea levels rise, coastal erosion will accelerate – forcing many communities to
relocate.In the face of these realities, I have chosen to take action
<[link removed]>.



I founded the Samoan chapter of 350.org <[link removed]>, becoming their
youngest-ever coordinator. I also established a community organization to teach
children about climate change.



In September, I joined the Global Citizen Festival stage to raise my voice for
urgent climate action. And this week,I’ll be on the ground at the UN Climate
Summit– where I’ll bring my message to leaders across the world.

As we kickoff the COP27 Summit, the path forward has never been clearer: we
must continue the fight to reduce emissions. We must champion the transition to
green energy. But most importantly,the countries most responsible for climate
change must deliver support for communities on its front lines – like my home
of Samoa.



While the effects of climate change threaten so many, my sense of hope feels
strong. I believe this moment does not represent the end of anything. Instead,
this is our moment to take a new approach: to live in harmony with nature –not
against it.
