Elsa and Sandy are tenderhearted turkeys who survived the cruelty of modern meat production.

On factory farms, millions of turkeys like them are born for slaughter each year - enduring cramped conditions with thousands of others, with little or no access to the outdoors.

Like most, Elsa was also debeaked: a painful removal of a turkey's beak tip.

Factory farming is inhumane and unrelenting. Turkeys are:

Bred to grow so large they can't fly, roost, or mate.
Killed between 12-18 weeks old - just babies.
Not protected by the Humane Slaughter Act - they're conscious when killed.
Slaughtered by the hundreds of millions each year - 223 million in 2021.

Today, Elsa and Sandy now around 8 years old, enjoy lives of their choosing at Farm
Sanctuary - Elsa at our Watkins Glen, New York shelter and Sandy at our
Acton, California shelter.
