Congress has a responsibility to ensure that any veteran who is interested in starting a small business is provided with the tools that they need to do so successfully. That’s why I’ve cosponsored legislation to bring training, capital, and resources to veteran entrepreneurs and will continue to fight to give veteran business owners the support they need to succeed.” ANDREW IN THE NEWS Rep. Garbarino to Newsmax: N.Y. Gov. Hochul a 'Crime Denier' " New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, who has blamed fears of rising crimes in the state on Republicans who want to scare people before the midterm elections, is a 'crime denier' who would change her tune if she rode on a subway in New York City, Rep. Andrew Garbarino said on Newsmax on Wednesday. 'If she actually took the subway without her state police escort, she would realize that things are not great in New York City,' the Republican congressman said on Newsmax's Wake Up America. 'The last time I took the subway, I went down and everybody had their backs up against the wall because they don't want to be pushed onto the tracks.' Hochul...is 'doubling down on her bad policies that she and the previous Gov. [Andrew] Cuomo started,' said Garbarino. 'She's got her head in the sand, and she's just hoping nobody notices...' CASEWORK HIGHLIGHT: Veteran Put To Rest A recently deceased Sayville Army veteran had wanted to be buried in the Long Island National Cemetery, but the cemetery is closed for new burials. His brother, however, was already buried there and the family had a second spot open next to him. Andrew's casework team was able to work with the VA National Cemetery Administration to get the family the necessary paperwork to ensure the recently deceased veteran was eligible to be buried in the VA cemetery. He has since been put to rest beside his brother. Andrew knows how frustrating dealing with bureaucracy can be. That is why he has an entire team dedicated to helping constituents get what they need for the federal government. If you need help dealing with a federal agency, contact our office and our team will get to work on your case. KEEPING UP WITH CONGRESS Andrew Calls on President Biden To Develop Emergency Plan To Safeguard U.S. Economy In The Event of Disaster Ahead of Deadline This week, Andrew sent a letter to President Joe Biden to express concern with the Administration's lack of progress in developing a Continuity of the Economy (COTE) plan, which is required by Congress no later than January 2023. In a statement, Andrew said, "With threats against the United States from our foreign adversaries on the rise, we cannot afford to be caught unprepared. The development of the COTE plan is a national security imperative, and it is therefore essential that the Administration address this matter with all urgency for the safety, security, and prosperity of the United States economy and American way of life." This fall alone he has successfully doubled the number of cosponsors for this legislation that would require the VA to study the root causes and risk factors of veteran suicide so that we can better address this epidemic - including two new cosponsors this week! Andrew has prioritized safeguarding veteran mental health and will not stop until all of our veterans have the mental health care they deserve. Thanks for reading!
