“Our country has had enough.”
That’s a direct quote from Donald Trump in the days leading up to the January 6th terrorist attack on our Capitol.
Well, even a broken clock is right twice a day, and on this quote, Trump is right: Indeed, our country has had enough – we have had enough sedition and treasonous behavior from our elected officials to last us a lifetime.
We don't just mean the members of Congress who committed treason on January 6th. We’re also talking about the members of Congress who have sold out our country and their constituents to lobbyists, corporations, their billionaire donors, and shady special interest groups.
Washington D.C.’s political class is made up of two kinds of people: Those who come here to help better our country and the lives of its people, and those who come here to grab influence and riches for themselves and their close associates.
The second kind is just as guilty of trying to destroy American democracy as the folks who planned the coup attempt on January 6th.
So yes, our country has had enough. We need wholesale changes to the way things are done in Washington.
How do we do that?
It starts by getting back to our roots, and it begins in America’s Heartland.

Middle America built this country and Middle America is the engine that keeps it going. So, it’s high time the lawmakers who represent Middle America be folks who pledge allegiance to the people they serve … not to the lobbyists and special interests who buy them off by bankrolling their lavish D.C. lifestyles.
We need to fight to elect good, honest, hardworking Americans who have proven their commitment to the communities they want to serve.
When we elect leaders who represent us, that is when real change will be made.
Look, this won’t be an easy task by any stretch of the imagination. We face monumental challenges ahead of the November midterms. But America, in all its beauty and diversity, is worth fighting for.
Our country is going through a dark time right now, but when Americans work together, we can overcome any obstacle.
We need to reach out to as many people as we can and remind them that we are a country of immigrants – a country built not on a common culture, lineage, or faith, but on the idea that all people are created equal.
Our commitment to equality, respect for diversity, willingness to welcome anyone who wanted to build a better life for themselves, and government by and for the people made us the envy of the world for nearly two centuries. Only by returning those roots will we flourish again.
To do that will require a strong team effort, and right now, we sure could use some help.
