This is Congressman Sanford Bishop. You might not know my name as well as some other Democrats’, and that’s exactly what Republicans are counting on. Let me explain:

Between gerrymandering, voter suppression, and dark money pouring into the district, Republicans have quietly built a top-tier attack on my seat — which had previously been considered safe — and they’re counting on grassroots Democrats not noticing until it’s too late.

That’s why I’m teaming up with the Democratic Party of Georgia to help get the word out. Will you split $25 between my campaign and the Democratic Party of Georgia to defend my seat and the Democratic House majority?

The GOP’s assault on our democracy has put Democrats like myself — a Black Congressman representing rural Georgia — in danger of losing my seat.

My seat used to be thought safe, but after redrawing my district and passing their voter suppression bill, Republicans believe they can flip it, and by doing so, flip the U.S. House red. So now, they’re throwing everything they’ve got at me.

And their plan is working . FiveThirtyEight says I’m the most competitive U.S. House seat in Georgia. Multiple top experts have DOWNGRADED my chances at winning re-election. And national Republicans groups like the NRCC and Kevin McCarthy’s super PAC are targeting me with relentless attacks.

You cannot treat this race like a safe seat. Because that’s exactly what Republicans want you to do. And if we fail to defend my seat, Democrats WILL lose the House.

We know with Republicans in charge, we’ll see schools and hospitals fail, rural communities abandoned, and no progress on common sense gun safety, voting rights, or expanding health care access. We have to keep fighting for our democracy, for unity, and for a renewed faith in the promise of America.

But I’ll be honest: it’s going to be tough.

I haven’t seen the urgency around my race that we’ll need to defend this seat and the House. But we can change that today.

My campaign has huddled with the Democratic Party of Georgia, and we calculated that if we raise $15,000 by midnight, we’ll be back on track to defend this seat and our democracy. Can you split $25 between my campaign and the Democratic Party of Georgia?
