Dear Friends,

It’s almost time for many of us to welcome our adult children home for the holidays. This is a treasured time of year for me, as all five of mine are living in various parts of the country. It feels like year after year, many of my friends and neighbors with adult children are either moving to be closer to their kids and some are *resigning themselves to the fact that their children will not be* *returning to CT* *to raise their families.*

The fact is that Connecticut has not only become less affordable in the last two decades for those still living here, but also less of a financial option for our children to come home after college , or stay home to build their lives closer to family and friends. (Unless they are coming home to live with their parents.)

My opponent may point to the numbers of New Yorkers who moved in during the pandemic, but let’s face it – they fled the city because of lockdowns and safety concerns. *CT has still not recovered jobs lost from the Great Recession and we are entering another recession due to the failed economic policies my opponent voted to pass. We need to make it affordable for everyone in CT to stop the net out migration from CT.* My opponent has not proposed or supported any bills to bring back the state and local tax (SALT) deductions.

*Property owners pay for local infrastructure costs and these benefits should be recognized to allow these deductions again.* We need less regulations on businesses to promote a more diverse economy, and to alleviate the constant traffic and ever increasing commute times on MetroNorth.

We need to do all we can to create a thriving environment that encourages our younger generations to come back home.

It’s time to change the direction of this state. It’s time for a more affordable Connecticut. It’s time for government leaders to help set the stage for our kids to feel secure that they can come home and make a good life here in Connecticut.

*ABOUT JAYME*
I’m running for Congress to bring common sense and balance back to Washington and to give voice to the people of the 4th Congressional District who have been left behind by politicians working for themselves and a national party agenda.  As a trusted leader and mother of five children, I understand the impacts government policies have on our communities and promise to fight for Connecticut children, families and businesses.
