National Veterans and Military Families Month

November is National Veterans and Military Families Month. Our congressional district has the 6th most veterans of any district in the country, and our military families are at the core of who we are in Eastern North Carolina. Let us always show grace, gratitude, and appreciation for our heroes and their loved ones. 

Helping constituents with federal agency casework is one of the most important jobs I have as your representative in Congress. Every year, my office aids hundreds of North Carolina veterans and families with a variety of services, from returning earned benefits to expediting passports. In fact, nearly 30% of all casework is VA-related. If you or a loved one in the Third District are in need of federal agency assistance, please contact my office. 

Murphy Visits Cape Lookout Lighthouse

North Carolinians know that whenever you put water, wind, and sand together that either erosion or accretion can occur. With the dynamic changes of our islands, we are faced with challenges on how best to preserve our seashores.

This week, I had the pleasure of meeting with Cape Lookout National Seashore Park Superintendent Jeff West to tour the Cape Lookout Lighthouse. We discussed eroison challenges and how we can use dredge materials and jetties to ensure that the Cape Lookout Lighthouse, as well as its outbuildings, will be here for generations to come.

Murphy Recognized as 'Friend of the Farm Bureau' 

It was wonderful to attend the Craven County Farm Bureau (CCFB) annual meeting on Thursday evening. I am so grateful to CCFB President Jason Jones, members of the board, and all of our hardworking farmers for everything they do to feed, fuel, and clothe our great district.

During the event, I was honored to accept the 'Friend of the Farm Bureau' award in recognition of my work on behalf of our farmers across the state. I’m always proud to represent our rural community in Congress.
