Dear John,
With the redistricting of the 157th Melissa has come full circle. While doing a campaign photo shoot at Hilltop Park a few months ago, she felt a rush of happy memories from her childhood. Melissa went to Beaumont Elementary, TE Middle School and then Conestoga High School where she was a member of the flash flags and kick-line teams. She played volley ball at Conestoga and loved going to the Devon Horse Show every year.
Melissa looks forward to representing Easttown and Willistown going forward and meeting more of her constituents. Life has come full circle.
Melissa was elected in 2018, defeating a four-term incumbent. She was re-elected in 2020 and is now running for her third term.
The majority (Republican) party runs the House- from the session schedule to what bills will be brought to the floor for a vote. This makes it difficult for the minority (Democratic) party to get bills to floor. Melissa has worked across the aisle on legislation and is proud that her childcare tax credit is in the state budget – returning 30% of childcare related expenses to working families. Next term she will work to increase that credit.
Melissa has brought over $24 million in grants back to the 157th. She was also instrumental in working to get Berwyn Fire Co $1.5 million to help fund a new station in April 2022 and an additional $500,000 in June 2022.
Right now, the most urgent issue is a woman’s right to choose and the Republican Constitutional Amendment, which if we do not flip Pennsylvania to a Democratic majority, will endanger a woman’s right to an abortion FOREVER. Melissa is proud to be endorsed by Planned Parenthood.
Melissa has brought safety grants back to the district and has worked with our local and state police to keep our community safe. She is proud to have earned the endorsement of the Chester County FOP Lodge #11.
Melissa believes that there are common sense measures that can be enacted to curb gun violence. There are currently 60 bills that are being held up by the majority and have not been brought to the floor for a vote. She feels all assault weapons should be banned however, with this majority party, that will never happen. She is proud to have earned the endorsement of Moms Demand Action.
